Special Collections Stonewall maintains a separate special collections area for the preservation and protection of unusual and rare items. These materials are for reference only and include such categories as first editions, autographed copies, rare and out of print materials, historically significant items and items with an unusual format or special binding.
Some of the highlights of our special collections are early editions of works by Magnus Hirschfeld, Christopher Isherwood, John Rechy, Radclyffe Hall, Willa Cather and many others; signed copies of books by Felice Picano, Patricia Nell Warren, Lillian Faderman and dozens of other prominent LGBT writers; unpublished manuscripts; and rare oversized art books.
